SUMMARY:Summer Reading Adventure
DESCRIPTION:The Huntington Learning Center of Danville/San Ramon is launching its annual summer reading program this week\, called Reading Adventure.\n\n\n\nReading Adventure runs June to August and is open to students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. \n\n\n\nThis is how it works: Each student in the center will set a goal for the number of books they want to read this summer. They can pick books from school\, the library\, or any books they haven't read before. \n\nWe will also be sending your student home with a list of age appropriate books to give them some additional options to choose from. We encourage you to sit down with your student when they bring this list home and pick a few books that they might be interested in reading. Many of our parents then take those choices and research each book with their child to decide which ones they will actually read. It's a great way for you to get involved in your students' summer reading from the very beginning. If they knows that you are interested in what they is reading\, they are more likely to stay involved throughout the summer months.\n\n\n\nWhen your student finishes reading a book\, they will fill out a journal. The journal will ask them questions about the book they read and their opinions about the book. When your student brings us a completed journal one of our teachers will review it with them before counting it towards their reading goal. \n\n\n\nOnce we review the journal with your student\, we will give them a postcard with their name and the name of the book they read to bring home. \n\n\n\nIf your student has any required reading for school\, the Reading Adventure Program is a great way for them to get excited about completing it! Have you received summer reading assignments from your students' school yet?\n\n \n\nAt the end of the summer\, we will also be having a party to celebrate each student's achievements during the Reading Adventure Program. The students really enjoy talking to their friend about how many books they read and which books they enjoyed the most. It's a great opportunity for our students to get excited about reading and sharing their experiences with their peers. \n\n\n\nWe have been running the Reading Adventure program for many years and I am so excited to have the students of Danville and San Ramon participating with us this summer. \n\n\n\nSummer Reading Adventure is FREE to participate in\, and we encourage everyone in the community go get involved.\n\n\n\nFor more information\, please e-mail sanramonca@hlcmail.com or call us at 925-854-2935
