About Us
Founded in 1963, the Contra Costa Crisis Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free 24/7 services to those in need.
24-Hour Crisis Lines: We manage Contra Costa County’s crisis, suicide, and grief lines, including calls to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (988, 800-273-TALK, 800-SUICIDE) and local crisis texts. We also handle after-hours calls for Child and Adult Protective Services. Our highly trained volunteers and staff offer counseling, emotional support, and resource information to those in distress.
Grief Counseling: We offer group counseling for adults mourning the loss of a loved one. Our team also provides mobile grief counseling at schools and businesses after a sudden death, including suicide. Our support groups, led by trained volunteers—many of whom are former clients—focus on various types of loss, including suicide loss and parental grief. Counseling is free and confidential.
2-1-1 Information and Referral: As the CPUC-authorized provider for Contra Costa County, our trained staff answers 2-1-1 calls and texts 24/7, providing information about local health and social services. We also serve as the access point for the county's Homeless Coordinated Entry system and First 5’s Help Me Grow program.
Other Services: We offer trainings and presentations on our services, suicide prevention, and using our 211 Resource Database for organizations, schools, and businesses.
