Housing
The Town of Danville is preparing an update to its Housing Element for the 2023-2031 planning period, in compliance with state housing law.
What is a Housing Element?
The Housing Element is a state-mandated policy document included in the Town of Danville General Plan. It identifies policies and programs to meet existing and projected future housing needs for all income groups. For this upcoming cycle, the State is requiring the Town to plan for a minimum of 2,241 additional housing units.
Why it Matters
The State of California has declared a 'housing supply crisis' and holds all local communities accountable for accommodating an assigned housing target, regardless of available land capacity. Your participation is essential to creating a plan that represents Danville's core values while meeting regional and state-mandated housing goals.
Why Danville-Business Participation is Important
Active participation from all members of the Danville community, including those who rent their homes or work in Danville, will provide direction on identifying the most appropriate housing locations for the expected growth and the best ways to address local housing needs. Active participation from all members of the Danville community, including those who rent their homes or work in Danville, will provide feedback to Town Council as they make decisions about the expected growth and the best ways to address local housing needs.
