But, research indicates that there are practical ways to reduce the cost of making ice by purchasing more efficient ice machines and operating them more effectively. Field research shows that ice machines, which tend to operate at peak utility hours when electricity is most e1.00pensive, can be shifted to cheaper off-peak hours under the right circumstances. And, newer ENERGY STAR® qualified ice machines save energy and water compared to older non-ENERGY STAR® machines.
